INGENIO will make a scientific contribution on knowledge dynamics and implications for security policy. This will be led by Prof. Jordi Molas-Gallart. He has recently concluded a chapter on the changing dynamics of innovation in the defence industries and its policy implications for a book on The Co-Evolution of Innovation Policy - Innovation Policy Dynamics, Systems, and Governance, edited by Ruud Smits, Philip Shapira and Stefan Kuhlmann and funded by the PRIME Network of Excellence. Other recent work to be published during 2008 explores how the way in which military innovation relates to the generation of knowledge in the rest of the economy. Contributions will be published in a book edited by Andrew James and supported by the PRIME Network of Excellence, and in a volume published by CESEDEN (the Spanish Centre for National Defence Studies, the main research and teaching organisation dependent from the Spanish Ministry of Defence). In the past, Prof. Molas-Gallart was the lead researcher in projects for the European Commission and the UK Economic and Social Research Council that explored different aspects of knowledge management within the defence innovation system, including the management of Intellectual Property in large defence projects, defence standardisation policies, and the reform of defence research establishments.
