IAI will make a scientific contribution on security dynamics: IAI will contribute to SANDERA’s capabilities in the field of security policy and security dynamics. IAI has extensive experience in the field of security research: IAI was a partner in two research projects under the EC Preparatory Action for Security Research Astro + (Advanced Space Technologies to Support Security Operations) and SeNTRE (Security Network for Technological Research in Europe). In both projects, together with FRS, IAI managed the “end user engagement program” together with a network of industrials, research centers and think-tanks. IAI, jointly with FRS, is participating to Limes (Land/sea Integrated Monitoring for European Security), a GMES Integrated Program aiming at defining and develop pre-operational version of Earth Observation services to support security management in the EU. IAI is a member of Staccato (STAkeholders platform for supply Chain mapping, market Conditions Analysis and Technologies Opportunities), a European funded supporting activity under the Preparatory Action for Security Research (PASR). It is a follow up activity of SeNTRE which was a supporting activity funded under PASR 2004. With the view to map the competences of the supply chain and to establish a multi-sector stakeholder platform, STACCATO is opening up to involve end users, government agencies, think thanks, research institutes, Academia and the wider industrial community, with specific attention to SMEs and competences in the new Member States. IAI also collects basic data on trends in the main Italian aerospace and defense industries in order to provide a homogeneous picture of the sector. In this light, support is provided for the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) in preparing the part of its Yearbook on industry.
